Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe
Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe is Dean of the Institute of American and Talmudic Law in New York, NY, iatlaw.org, director of the Institute for Judaic Knowledge and a member of the editorial staff at chabad.org.
Rabbi Yaffe has lectured, led seminars and visiting scholar programs throughout North America, as well as in Mexico, Europe, and Africa as well as having written extensively for various forums.
He has authored several turnkey educational programs, including serving as lead author for the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute's (JLI) "Living with Integrity" course.
He recently completed an appointment as scholar-in-residence to the Chabad House at Harvard, serving the Harvard and MIT communities.
In his capacity as Dean of the Institute he has sat on panels with distinguished members of the bar, including Justice Scalia of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Rabbi Yaffe has served as a pulpit rabbi in several synagogues, as the director of the Hartford Kashrut Commission, and a chaplain to the Hartford Fire Department.
Rabbi Yaffe was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Portland, ME, and Los Angeles, CA. He studied at Yeshivot (rabbinic colleges) in Miami, London, and New York and received rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch, Brooklyn, NY in 1989, where he was chosen as one of 14 members of the "Kanei HeMenorah" honor society.
He was a fellow of the post-ordination community leadership program at the Leeds Kollel in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England from 1990- 1992.
